If I had to guess in terms of profits, eh Sony. Of course this is me not doing research.

In terms of personal preference, Samsung. Sony is just more branched out.

Samsung aims at quality. But the big downside to Samsung is that they have yet to make a game platform, and thus they don't have the recognition Sony has.
Sony does have better marketing though. And they focus on products, while Samsung also does parts.
Samsung is quite famous for parts. As for the product, LG actually tops out.

They still wouldn't.
Game developers are mostly situated in Japan, and considered the Japanese extreme Korean rivalry and their sense of nationalism, would not allow any of their games to port to Samsung.
Samsung obviously knows this, which is why they haven't entered the game industry.
They make everything else just fine though. TV's, MP3's, to every household machines like dryers and dishwashers.
I got my samsung walkman for a ridiculously cheap price and it works just as well as an iPod.
