Hey guys, I'll list the problem i'm having then the specs. If any other info is left out that would be helpfull lemme know and i'll try to find it. Alright the problems I'm having are, while solo as long as my graphics are all the way down I can play pretty decent, but once I get to an area with alot of objects/enemys It starts lagging really hardcore kinda like i'm warping and I still have 5 bars of connection. The other problem is anytime i'm in a party even if it's only 2 people it's almost unbearable lag wise bosses/mobs/me just warping around in the room when in a party though I usually have 2 bars of connection. That's it here is my specs
GFX card Nvidia GForce Galaxy 8400 gs
CPU Pentium 4 cpu 3.00ghz 2.99 ghz
Ram 2.75 GB (It is mixed size ram if that matters?)
Hard drive 80gb
I don't know what my mobo is.
The only upgrades i've made are the ram/gfx card the rest is 10 years old atleast. It might be the cpu or mobo but I don't know whats good so any advice would be great. Here's my speed test too it's in LA since I think that's where the server is?

Again any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

Yea the west servers are in LA. And yeah it sounds like huge computer lag. I think its better if all the ram is the same size, dont quote me. Why not just upgrade the whole computer? My friend made a bunch for our LAN parties (yup we are that geeky) for only like 300 bucks each setup and they run most games, including Vindictus smoothly. 10 years is a long time to not upgrade, especially the cpu. Didn't know pentium 4s still run, figure they would all just auto die by now. I'll see if I can grab some specific specs from my friend later.

Alright thanks alot, any help would be awsome. The main reason I haven't upgraded the whole computer is I don't know what to look for mainly haha.
(Also don't wanna screw anything up) xD

Someone with an older PC than me finally.
Mine is about 6 years old with parts of varying age but my vindictus is on max settings, so you won't need to spend much if vindictus is all you're interested in.
something simple like this will run stuff fine:
Newegg.com - Gateway DX Series DX4840-07 Intel Core i5 650(3.20GHz) 6GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce 315 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
just see the specs on that to compare when you shop. Depending on your budget you can get something much more awesome or even build your own.

So would it be safe to say, I'm better off just getting a new computer? I don't really have a huge budget atleast till I can find another job, but if you think it'd just be better to start over instead of trying to upgrade this one in the long run I could start saving I guess. Also I'm kinda leery about gateways they tend to have crashing problems atleast anyone that I knew that had one.

The one there is just to show hardware specs and price range for pre-builts. Brand doesn't matter much pre-builts all suck anyways but for some people there's no other option.
Upgrading that dinosaur PC will be a problem, it's old enough that none of the good stuff is even compatible with the motherboard. It's probably possible to improve it, but it would be a loosing battle in the long run. Anything you can get pre-built in the 700 - 800$ range will be at least twice as good if not more than trying to fix up the old one.
I haven't built myself a brand new PC in 6 years or so but I plan to very soon for the exact same reason. Going to build an epic one that will last another 5 years.

Alright then thanks alot! I'll end up building one most likely, I remeber the last pre-built laptop I got lasted a year haha.
Again thanks for the help guys.

really depends on ur budget n what kinda games u want to play , are u overclocking or not etc etc need to do some research in ur area (irl) n maybe find a reputable rig builder. u can usaully get something really good for same price prebuilt junk

The only games I play are Combat arms and Vindictus, I've heard of overclocking and I don't know how to do it. But I really doubt it's a good idea on a 10 year old comp at the moment anyways. I'll see if I can find a good builder as you suggested because your 100% right prebuilt sucks haha.

that would be best as for over clocking its not very useful on single core rigs , its best done if u got 4 core or more . just be sure to research for a good rig builder !
mostly theyre better cuase prebuilt stuff tends to have cheaper components like kingston ram cheap feather light power supplies, standard air coolers etc .
good builder can get u something with antec ps, noctua air cooler , some g skill or corsair ram etc etc like i said really depends on ur budget n what u wanna spend
